Japan thought that the game was too difficult for Americans. It was planned to be released as Mario Bros. 1 sequel (Mario Bros. 2 US) but it was scrapped and used as Japan’s Mario Bros. 2. Our Mario Bros. 2 was called Doki Doki Panic in Japan’s gaming community.

Super Mario All-Stars is a very solid game featuring five games if Super Mario World is included in the All-Stars bundle. The five games are Mario Bros. 1, 2, 3, Lost Levels, and Super Mario World. This game also features save slots unlike their Nes ancestors. The Nes games were setup more like Arcade games and not adapted to Console Platforms. Nintendo adapted to this for their Super Nintendo release. These 16 bit treasures featured save slots as compared to typing in long confusing passwords for certain games.

In Mario Bros. Lost Levels you can unlock World 9 by beating the game without warps. The secret doesn’t count if you warp forward or backward words. Just beat the levels traditionally and you should have no problem playing this hidden world.

After World 9 is World A, B, C, and D. To achieve these Hidden Fantasy Worlds you must beat the game 8 times. These worlds are difficult so bring your best game and watch out for the Poison Mushrooms. These mushrooms were also first introduced in this game. It is a game that will get you frustrated a lot.

It is easy to find a cartridge of All-Stars at a flea market, online auction, or other online retailers. It is a fairly common SNES game. Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World is a much rarer find as it has all 5 great games instead of 4. That might cost you an arm and a leg since it’s getting rarer by the day.
