Mario is one of the most lovable video game characters of all time and been around since the last two decades. Game designer Shigeru Miyamoto is the one who created this character while working for Nintendo. Mario has appeared in more than 200 video games. Mario first appeared in a Donkey Kong Game. Mario is still the favorite game of children all over the world. These days, Mario appears in many other games such as racing, puzzle, fighting, sport games and many more. Mario games are the best selling video game series of all time.

Mario is a short Italian plumber from the Mushroom Kingdom. King browser is an evil villain of the Mushroom Town who always kidnaps princess Peach. Acting as a hero, Mario always foils the plans of king Browser and saves the Princess. After successful debut of Mario in Donkey Kong, he appeared again in Donkey Kong junior as a villain which was also a huge hit. Due to the growing popularity of Mario, Nintendo launched new game by the name of Mario Bros which created sensation in the world of video games. It was two player games and was played by people all over the world. Record breaking 20 million copies of Mario Bros were sold when it was released. Super Mario Bros was also highly a huge hit and was able to sell nearly 18 million copies in a year.

In his early games, Mario appeared as a 2D character but was later made into a three dimensional polygon model that lived in the Mushroom Kingdom. He had a brother named Luigi who was also a plumber.

Apart from appearing in various Mario series, Mario was also a guest character in various other games like Mike Tyson Punch Out where he was the referee. Mario was also appreciated as a character in some non platform games like Super Smash Bros.

In 1990, Mario appeared for the first time in a non platform game which was much like Tetris. Nintendo chief decided come out with some educational games. He then launched a few education games with Mario as its leading character like Mario Paint and Mario Pinball Land. After 2 years Nintendo made the first multiplayer Mario game, Mario Kart. It was followed by Super Mario Kart and is still continued to be the best kart-racing franchise.

Mario will always have a special place in video game history and is still thought of as the most popular video game character among children. With an astounding 200 million copies of Mario games being sold over the years, he is the first video game character to be honored with a wax sculpture in Hollywood wax museum.

Nothing brings out the best of the Wii you’ve got, other than the best Wii games around. If you own a Wii, but do not know which games to play, I’ve got a list of the best games available here!

These games are definitely fun, not just because I say so, but because almost everyone else says so!

Best Wii Games:

1. Super Mario Galaxy

This game is the absolute classic. Evergreen at its best. Mario Brothers has been around for what seems like forever, but no one ever gets sick of the pair of lovable friends. Probably the most highly anticipated Wii game. If you are someone who’s a fan of Mario Bros., you will absolutely love this game. I know I did.

2. Super Smash Bros

Brawl. A different type of game, but still one of the best around. If the previous version of this game impressed you, then you will love the latest version so much more. It’s that much better.

3. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

Awesome game. Highly recommended. I’m pretty confident that everyone would like this game.

4. The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Zelda lovers have gotta love this one. Link isn’t as cartoonish in this game, which is definitely a huge plus to many gamers out there.

5. Wii Fit

If you have not tried out Wii Fit before, I don’t think you’ve experienced the best of Wii. It’s interactive, awesome, fun, active, and you lose weight while having fun!

6. Super Paper Mario

Yup, another Mario game. I’m such a huge fan of Mario that I just gotta try out its every version. Well, great game, what can I say?

7. Guitar Hero III

A game to bring out the musical, and comical talents in all of us. Another great edition to the Guitar Hero games. Trust me, you’re gonna have lots of fun and laughter while playing this.

8. Mario Strikers Charged Football

Mario? Enough said. =)

So, these are pretty much the best Wii games that I have discovered and if you haven’t tried any of the above, you really should. I promise that you’re gonna love them.
